1. Avoid redundant sentences.
As a reader, you wouldn't want to read the same lines all over again. Once or twice is quite bearable, more than that is a big no no. The possible sentences, line or words that should be repeated is the first and last sentence what readers wanted to read.
2. If there's a word for it, use it.
Some writers, wanted their choice of words a little different so they use a much deeper words. But making the words too deep might exhaust all readers and make them go away. When you can make the words more simpler, the more better. Being an eloquent writer is best for instructional and creative writing. This will also balance quality and quantity.
3. It is always 'your' not 'our'.
Who is writer here? It's you. You're the one who's telling and the one who is creating. Your readers will gain more confidence if it seems to them that you are in a far away place and not one of them.
4. Do not command, just suggest.
Your readers don’t want you to be commanding them to do things. Instead of saying “use this tool” say “I find this tool very useful”. Although the phrase points to you finding the tool “very useful” it will give the reader an idea that it is indeed good, and might use it. Everyone has their ego to protect, yes it applies here too. A declarative sentence is more favorable than a command sentence.
5. Strong words, strong memory.
Using of strong words in your sentences might automatically keep you from doing tip #1. A quote from a movie or in a book is a big impact to the readers and they can't just simply forget it.
6. Let them guess.
As a writer, you shouldn't give it all. Add a mysterious twist, leave a question, excite them that they will want for more. Keep on making them think, or say, “what’s next? what’s next?” but your goal should be “awww I want more!”
7. Figures of Speech.
Usually when a writer explains a piece of very complicated material there is always the worry of boring the readers to death.
8. Humor
You may add humor to lighten up the subject and make your readers feel at ease with you. It should not be forced, it should appear as naturally as possible. People deserve to smile while reading, and they will like you for making their hectic day lighter.
9. Try before suggesting.
Nothing beats experience, that is a fact. As a writer, you shall not suggest to the readers things that you haven't tried nor proven yet. Be cautious and share only what you have experienced first or has a good knowledge of, even theoretical.
10. Read other's work.
This way, it will give you knowledge about the current happenings. It will also give you an idea which readers would want to read and what they don't. Saying "I didn't learn anything from that" is nonsense, because you're just being careless or just thinking it wasn't effective.
